This photo, probably from the early 1950s and loaned by Jack Holmes via John Abbott, was taken at the south end of the village looking north. On the left hand side of the photo can be seen Ford's transport cafe with lorries parked up. There is another photo showing the cafe in the On the Move section of this website and the lorries are mentioned in Winifred Swallow's narrative under Other.

On the same side the two chapels can be seen with a house between, now (2008) occupied by Mr.and Mrs Shilling. In the distance is the school. On the right can be seen two rows of cottages called Chapel Row.
