The Long Bennington Local History Society holds seven meetings a year at the Long Bennington Community Centre "Saint James Hall" and the programme for 2008/2009 is as follows:

26th January 2009 - Albert Ball V.C. Nottingham's WW1 ace pilot by Peter Hammond

23rd February 2009 - Dr. Robert Thorotan 1623-73 [The Car Colstan historian] by Adrian Henstock

23rd March 2009 - Burtons of Smithy Row [The story of the famous Nottingham merchants] by Valerie Henstock

27th April 2009 - Newark Under Siege [ the making of a film] by Michael Cox

Visitors and prospective new members are very welcome and we are always glad to receive either contributions or comments regarding our website to lblhs@hotmail.co.uk. Please note however that we are not  a society which deals with Family History  and enquiries relating to this very popular topic should be addressed to one of the excellent organisations [most of which have websites] which deal specifically with the subject.
